I'm happy there was such a big focus on indie games this year, but a lot of the big categories going to a single game made it all feel like E33 was being glazed to hell and back.

You could've honestly just said game (singular) and it would've gotten the point across.

I think what tipped the scales in E33's favour was all of the criticism about the difficulty of Silksong. Starting with 3 hits and only getting a 4th after a good amount of playtime wards off those interested, whereas E33's first big difficulty is literally an optional boss.

The worst part of the entire event was Geoff literally mocking Silksong fans with whatever the hell "See! You guys won something!" was supposed to be, and it legit soured the rest of the event, as well as revealing that's all it was gonna get.

All props to Sandfall Interactive. Their story of how they made E33 is the stuff of legends, and it's incredibly inspiring, but let's be honest it did not deserve Best RPG when there's only 1 choice that matters, and the Art Direction literally came down to who you ask.

I have my gripes with Frontiers (specifically the final boss being a hard-mode exclusive), but the character moments were genuinely great.

It did confuse me as to the nature of the Sonic world when they reference every single Sonic game and treat them all as canon.

Nevermind, the site just crashed, apparently.

I take it that's a sign of a wall being smashed somewhere.

Happens often that something with a fanbase gets shut down just because the higher-ups weren't seeing enough ROI.

More people should live by the words of Lord Reggie. If it's not fun, why bother.

Though I fear too many hear that and go "if it's not fun *for me*, why bother making it at all" and twist it into attacking devs instead of moving on with their lives.

The kind of person who genuinely throws a bunch of shade towards female producers/directors is the kind of person who wonders why no one wants to hang out with them.

I like to say they peaked in middle school. The "critics", I mean.

Lemme give you the rundown:

Poke. Poke. Poke.

Block the monster's super mega ultra death beam that burns your eyes even at the lowest brightness.

Don't worry guys, the free market will sort itself out and self regulate. Trust ^^

Damn, being upfront about stuff and NOT having to live up to ideals imposed by a corporation upon a people leads to more motivation and happiness?

Who would've thought? 🤔

I do honestly believe you could solve a lot of the US' political problems by simply NOT treating it like a seasonal sport like Football.

It's the only country I know of where politicians are treated like the 2nd coming of christ rather than some guy in a suit.

Slow, deep breaths to calm yourself, think of yourself as a friend in need of motivation and comfort, and offer that to the best of your abilities.

It's what I've started to do when I feel myself starting to freak out. It helps... weirdly enough. It'll hold me over until I get the help I need.

Poe's law.

What's obvious sarcasm to you and your friend circle may come across as genuine thoughts when put into text to strangers on the net.

This is why people like tone indicators so much. Don't get pissy when your humour doesn't translate into plain text.

I know Warframe removed Raids in the past, but that's the only thing that comes to mind that sorta sucks.

FF14 gets increasingly homogenized. Can't speak for GW2.

Destiny and WoW are both designed to give players the same thing, but slightly different and then rip chapters out of their book.

Yes, a game is not there to please everyone. You go to the game for what it offers.

I bring up Sonic Frontiers because it's the first time I've felt seriously blue-balled by a game pulling a fast one on me because of the difficulty I was playing on.
January 5, 2025 at 10:58 PM
I don't agree with that theory, as it felt pretty jarring to have so much build-up only for it to instantly cut to the end.

From a story perspective, you're getting blueballed on the final confrontation. From a gameplay perspective, you're getting blueballed on the final boss to cap the game off.

The game should be enjoyable for everyone, and stuff shouldn't be left out just because you didn't play it on the harder difficulties, nor should you be ridiculed for playing on Easy.

And you shouldn't leave the final boss be exclusive to Hard Mode, Sonic Frontiers. That's just a dick move.
