That is an imminent danger and it needs to be addressed because it is terrifying. The deception the US practiced to bring the UK into the Iraq War will be nothing compared to how Trump will humiliate the UK. He tried to steal Zelenskyy's dignity. The UK cannot let that happen. 4

for the UK are great. Vance is a key player in that world.
If Trump wants a US company to have UK data, Buckingham Palace, or part of the NHS he now has the means to extort the UK until he gets it. He will switch off the US tech that is vital to the UK until the UK bends to its will. 3/4

he is the future. Much of Trump's audience (the ones who will be hurt by the tariffs) is messianic in the belief that any short term sacrifice will lead to their greater political and economic power.

Balzac reworked his writing endlessly. An exhibit in Balzac's house in Passy shows how he added to and edited that version eleven times after his manuscript was sent to the publisher. I am bearing this in mind as I rework an article again today!

I reread Joshua Rothman's The Ledger and the Chain on race, capitalism, and power. He explains how slavery was central to American social and economic development in the 19th century, ending with how slave owners recovered their fortunes and brilliantly showing the consequences.
