I've been working on a custom blender asset processor. So far it imports in the textures,colliders,animations,physics, and gpu instancing on particles. Sorry for the gyazo splice.

Here is a small blender tutorial on attaching modular body parts. I'm using it for my characters. It's useful for ears, fur or anything you need to stick onto an object.

Oh and creating the snake rig I used a curve constraint and hooks to influence handles. You can get some nice arcs with a lot of bones.

One of the cool things on this project was making some fog, although we toned it down quite a bit. Pretty much it was just depth with multiple scales of noise moving.
