TIL that aliquot just means "some of" a sample. I've been working as an electronics engineer at a chemistry company for 7 years, and until now I thought taking an aliquot was some complicated chemistry procedure. 😂 But it just means taking a little bit of something.

I recently learned the word "electrooculogram". I would have thought it was an electronic message with sexy pictures attached, but it's actually a measurement of this standing potential current, like a DC bias current, in the eye.
