Kyle is investigating the use of approaches that do not rely on taxon-specific assay development, such as ‘adaptive sampling’ and whole genome sequencing. His work will assess if and when these ONT workflows can be applied in One Health diagnostic scenarios.

Gene expression regulation is mediated by various mechanisms, including epigenomics and the emerging, less-understood field of epitranscriptomics. Marta will present preliminary results from a porcine bain welfare study where they identified more than 5K RNA editing sites. 🐷🧬
