There are currently no approved treatments in Canada that can slow the progression of Alzheimer's, only drugs to quiet symptoms as cognition worsens.

The drug is only approved for people with mild cognitive impairment due Alzheimer’s and one or no copy of ApoE4, a gene for the protein apolipoprotein E. These patients are less likely to experience side effects from the medication.
