It also means you are more frustrated when you make dinner plans two months ago on the one day you and your friend are both available, only for them to bail at the last minute because they have ten other events that week and are burned out.

I am far from perfect at it but I find that I am more present at the things I do go to. When you have 3+ plans in a weekend you can’t be mentally there for all of them.

Something I have been working on for the past year is slowing down and being very intentional about how I spend my time and leaving breathing space to reset and recharge. Even if it means saying no to something and missing out.

Well… here we are now and it’s horrible.

It was shocking and hurt hearing the rumors as I started working my way up in publishing. Nothing concrete. All second/third/fourth hand knowledge. Look out for the missing step. “Keep your young female publicists and editorial assistants from being alone with him.”

I so admired this man in college. I met him at a talk about Mirror Mask when it came out. I remember being so star struck I could barely squeak out my request for him to sign my sketch book. “Dream Dangerously,” he wrote. I cherished that signature, hung it on my wall.

I relate to this so hard but with visual art.
