Back in October, CFIB started the #FreeTheBridge campaign asking for the removal of tolls on the Confederation bridge. Good to see the main political parties in the federal election commit to doing so! Kudos to @fgionet.bsky.social for all his work on this file.

Small business confidence plummets to all-time low as U.S.-Canada trade war ramps up

➡️Very weak employment plans

➡️Average price increase planned for the next 12 months registered the largest jump since the pandemic

Kudos to Minister Jean-Claude D'Amours for this legislation. CFIB was an intervener in the Comeau case & has advocated for this change for years. Opportunities for direct-to-consumer sales, on top of eliminating the personal limits, is also a step forward on interprovincial trade.

A tariff response budget? Is it enough? Possibly. Only time will tel.

Two things are certain: Today's deficits will be tomorrow's taxes and giving municipalities full ability to set commercial property rates will lead to tax increases for small businesses.
