So TIL that trans guys can and a non-zero number do have two dicks.

If only every GA urology surgeon wouldn't tell me and my BMI to fuck off into the sun. Ah, well.

And why do none of them have the image of the heel?

This spot is only above water like once or twice a decade. Crocs began selling in 2002. 🧐

It would be incredibly funny if, somewhere out there, someone made a bunch of these thinking how they'd prank some stranger someday.

Haaaa the more I pore over these, the more human-made they look. So, not fossils. But then how did this design get so inlaid??
October 28, 2025 at 11:39 PM
Orrrrrrr possibly not? They look exactly like the front part of a Crocs shoe tread.

But they are indelibly part of the stone.

Something mysterious going on, either way.

Bit by bit, we will eat the elephant that is divesting Zuli of the fluffy pantaloons of which Jac craves (and takes) mouthfuls. Zuli does not enjoy having her fluffy pantaloons cut away, but we enjoy even less her stress-induced diarrhea butt-scooching.

This is an example of a lace chart from Treegarth. O's are small holes, / and \ are slanted stitches combining two stitches into one. Honestly like 90% of knitting uses those three plus knit and purl stitches.

One shawl might use ~3-12 charts so the design changes as the shawl gets longer.

Wendy is my favorite dyer - her skills at hue choice and transition are utterly peerless. This is an example of one of her "marbled" dyes, with variegation between hues. I love knitting with gradients, as not only does it look lovely, it keeps the project interestingly ever-changing to knit.

And now pulling Mantle of Leaves from the blocking mats! This is for a friend who wouldn't likely wear lace, but I believe he would wear a pile of leaves made of wool and silk for "main character energy." 😁

Pattern is Mallorn Leaves, yarn is a custom forest-themed colorway by Wendy's Wonders.

Fire Vortex, for a druid friend. Since clockwise/sunwise is important to the particular group we were in, I did the pattern backwards - reversing the counterclockwise design. Yarn originally intended for Bonfire, it wanted to be this instead.

Pattern is Mystic Vortex, yarn is by OzifarmersMarket.

This one was WEIRD and FUN. A total deviation from my usual lacework. I asked a friend what their favorite colors are, and they said orange and aqua. Which, gosh, that pairing is A CHOICE but that also tracks for them, so, fine, orange and aqua! I had a blast finding the boldest examples I could.

STRONGER TOGETHER (and matching hat) are gifts to my union president. I designed the center mosaic strip with letters and logo using an Excel spreadsheet and filling cells with color.

Pattern is mostly Shield Maiden, with modified mosaic strip.

Forest Floor is humus and beetles, leaf litter and mushrooms and lichen. The beads (all ~15 shades of them) are meant to evoke carapaces and sunlight filtering in rare beams deep in old growth forest.

Pattern is Diamonds and Rust, yarn is Steampunk by Wendy's Wonders.

The beads always stay one shade ahead of the yarn: sparks amidst bonfire.

Pattern is Firedance, yarn is Forest Fire by Camas Prairie Fiber.

Bonfire begins in cold ashes. Matte black beads are coal amongst the bones of black yarn. At first, only glimmers of embers in the dark: carmine beads glint at the transition to flames.

Interlude for A Shield Embracing Death. Knitted to watch over me during a death ceremony spent overnight under earth: a spiderweb to let slip that which did not serve me, to hold onto that which I wished to carry into the dawn.

Pattern No. 9 in a Japanese book of doily patterns, yarn is Sea Maiden.

These stars are rare oases of beingness hanging alone within deserts of empty space. As the wingtips of empty void reach out, only rare winking stars adorn them.

Patterns are Wild Swan transitioning into Soar, yarn is Wendy's Wonders.

Traveling out from center, the nebula cools. As orange shifts to pink, matter begins to coalesce. A field of pink beads transitions into purple along with the feathers, cooling further into blue. Atoms form, becomes fuel within heat and pressure to light as stars.
September 17, 2025 at 1:15 AM
Wings of Creation began in "Holy shit that yarn looks JUST like a nebula, I MUST knit it" and misremembering the Pillars for the Hands of Creation.

The center of a nebula exists in a state of pure potential. Too chaotic, too new for even matter to have been born. Even gas is too structured.

My best pieces are stories told in fiber and patterns. My second-best pieces are 800 g of nerdery in 200 g of fiber.

Stellarium is one of the latter: an astronomically accurate star chart of the constellations of the northern hemisphere, with bonus M87 black hole.

Pattern is Stellarium.
