Wanting to save the NHS

When the Far-Right show up on my timeline, I answer with facts, then the insults come.
The absence of any shred of intellectual acumen is palpable.
I have an established pattern of responses, reasoning, facts, then block.

A sudden dramatic shift in the BBC's coverage.

Why?

Because everybody knows that the utter calamity engulfing Gaza is going to be impossible to hide.

For the Guilty Men of the media: you all had ample warning for 21 months!

You did this! Everything that now happens is on you.

🤔 Has the corporate world taken over the UK's Labour party?

Instead of snatching crumbs from workers, pensioners & the disabled, Labour should target the massive concentration of wealth built up by the richest 1%. A #wealthtax, as well as fairer taxes on corporate profiteers & the highest earners, would deliver far more money than any cuts to benefits.

THE CANARY: Privatised water costs us dearly: Study reveals a staggering 35% 'privatisation tax' on bills. Time for a collective push towards reclaiming our essential resource for the public good?

- by James Wright
How much higher are our water bills because of privatisation? A lot.
Even when accounting for nationalisation costs, we would save £5 billion per year on our water bills by bringing water into public ownership

Where did all that money go? www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2025/04... Hundreds of billions were supposedly wiped off the value of stock markets yesterday. I am always asked, "Where did the money go?" when that happens. And the answer is it went nowhere. Instead, that figure is a measure of lost hope.
Where did all that money go?
I was, yesterday, asked the almost inevitable question that is sent in my direction every time stock exchanges fall significantly, and that is, 'Where did all that money go? ' The answer is 'Nowhere'...

The situation in Gaza is bleak.

Israel continues its bombing campaign and starving of the Palestinian people whilst Western governments turn a blind eye to these atrocities.

The British and US governments must stop arming Israel immediately.
World must act now to help Gazans under Israeli blockade, UN chiefs urge
Israel has blocked humanitarian supplies and fuel from entering for five weeks - the longest period since the war began.

Wes Streeting wants to sack 100,000 NHS staff. He could do that. But he will make it hopelessly inefficient and vastly less productive as a result. It's as if Labour wants to sacrifice everything of value - and all for the sake of Rachel Reeves' spreadsheet. www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2025/04...
Wes Streeting’s NHS redundancies make no sense
This is a headline story in the Guardian this morning: Hospitals in England could axe more than 100,000 jobs as a result of the huge reorganisation and brutal cost-cutting ordered by Wes Streeting an...

The government's choice to push millions of people into destitution with its austerity policies and cuts to welfare is abhorrent.

Starmer should scrap the two-child benefit cap and invest in our communities to end the cruel cycle of poverty.
Scrap two-child benefit cap to give local councils a much-needed cash injection
Hundreds of thousands of children would be lifted out of poverty, saving constituencies millions, if the two-child benefit cap was scrapped.

There is a rapidly growing number of key workers on zero-hour contracts, delivery drivers, carers, online labour or cloud labour, remote labour, stand-by employment, who qualify as The Precariat; precarious work, insecure labour tailored for a 'concierge economy' during a New Gilded Age.

Freeports: what are they, and why did Labour sign off on them with the Tories?
“Freeports represent a significant threat to the well-being of Britain” says Richard Murphy - so, why do they continue to go under the radar?

New research: public ownership of water could cut bills by £3–5bn a year.

Bosses of profit-gouging water companies fund studies claiming it’s “too expensive.” It’s not. It would just mean they take the hit instead of the public, who’ve footed the bill for 35 years of failure.
