•The Fall That Saved Us by Tamara Jerée
•fantasy/romance, 309pg, 3/5 difficulty

this explores an angelic warrior who left her duty behind to be herself. it has themes of filial duty, betrayal, and growth as she faces what she left and finds herself falling in love not just w a demon but w herself
January 22, 2025 at 9:13 PM
•The Necessity of Rain by Sarah Chorn
•fantasy, 334pg, 3.5/5 difficulty

this book is a love letter to the concept of creation itself. it delves into sacrifice, love, loss, and grief in ways that few other novels of this genre do while still depicting one of the most heartfelt queer relationships
January 22, 2025 at 9:13 PM
•When Among Crows by Veronica Roth
•fantasy, 176pg, 2.5/5 difficulty

a quick, compelling adventure of characters who are all looking for something different together. touches on filial duty, queer love, complexity of child soldiers, and what truly makes an action justified. i really enjoyed this!
January 22, 2025 at 9:13 PM
•What You Are Looking For is in the Library by Michiko Aoyama
•fiction, 253pg, 2/5 difficulty

easy, relaxing read that lets you explore what it means to be content, find what you need, and grow in yourself and in your community. this cup feels like sitting down and resting after a long day to me
January 22, 2025 at 9:13 PM
•Babel by R.F. Kuang
•hst fic/fantasy, 544pg, 5/5 difficulty

fascinating worldbuilding not only on magic but language. the use of words v language/identity is powerful and compelling. you are immersed in it. it also doesn’t pull punches on impacts of colonialism, academic bias, and privilege.
January 22, 2025 at 9:13 PM
•How to Be an Antiracist by Ibram X Kendi
•NF, 377pg, 4/5 difficulty

something everyone should read at least imo. breaks down racist/antiracist ideas, actions, structures, and language that i hadn’t even considered before in ways that were digestible. i recommend the 2nd edition bc of his updates!
January 22, 2025 at 9:13 PM
•Angels Before Men by rafael nicolás
•fantasy, 370pg, 4/5 difficulty

queer retelling of the fall of lucifer that isn’t afraid to address the complexity of god v freewill, what it means to worship, and the abusive impact of oppressive faith. mentally my hardest read of 2024 but the most impactful
January 22, 2025 at 9:13 PM
•The Hundred Years’ War on Palestine by Rashid Khalidi
•NF, 319pg, 5/5 difficulty

a detailed and comprehensive guide on the hst of palestinian oppression and genocide, written by a scholar and presented clearly and effectively to give you the language needed to educate yourself and fight back

•Kim Jiyoung, born 1982 by Chi Nam-joo
•fiction (barely), 163pg, 3/5 difficulty

one of the most digestible feminist reads available. the real experiences of modern women all told through this fictional narrative of KJY makes it technically fiction but only just as it cites real stories/stats/events
