To clarify, Engineering may be responsible for the solution but Product is ultimately accountable and needs to be involved. Have you been on a team operating with complete separation? I've never seen that and agree it sounds like a nightmare.

@spavel.bsky.social - As a Product Manager, we should own the problems to be solved (sizing, cost of delay analysis, prioritizing), while engineering owns solutions. It always bugs me when I see product people operating as you've described.

Definitely better than using 'refactor'.
