Angela Rayner's legacy will be bigger than anybody in the media who has been after her head since day one. Against all odds she has helped bring about a huge uplift to workers' and renters' rights. Meanwhile, journalists spend their days snipping women. Thank you for everything you've done, Angela.

People of the Internet: Not compensating WASPI women is egregious, how dare the Government not award it!
Government: We are looking at the case for compensation again.
People of the Internet: They are just doing it to chase votes. How dare they!
I am convinced you all just love complaining.

I really do not see how this Government stands a chance against MSM. People's lives could materially improve by the next GE, and MSM will still manage to convince them it is worse in pursuit of helping Farage.

Since the Government came into office, Bridget Phillipson and the Department of Work and Pensions have chaired the child poverty task force which, recommends scrapping it. This, wishes from her cabinet members, and her own beliefs are likely to be what is driving Reeves to the decision.
Before Zack Polanski dares try to take credit for the abolition of the two child benefit cap that may happen in the budget, Starmer told the Treasury in May that they should scrap it. Bridget Phillipson, has indicated for a long time that it should be abolished. It was a matter of when, not if.

This indicates what I have always believed. It was always going to happen under this Government, but it has always been a matter of when.
NEW: Rachel Reeves signals she intends to remove the two-child cap *in full*

If Labour were truly in the pockets of the rich in the manner claimed by some of their left wing opponents then, why have they have been subject to what feels like a media coup since the day that Keir Starmer came PM.

Zack Polanski saying that he wants everyone to get rid of their nukes, is next level wishful thinking. Pigs will fly before, Vladimir Putin, China or North Korea disarm their nuclear weapons. In other news, I would love a house with a swimming pool, cinema, and record library.

I have to be honest, I hope that Starmer does a Blair and picks his successor himself, and in doing so, picks Darren Jones, when the time comes.

My concern with the prospect of Andy Burnham becoming PM is, that he will throw out evey sensible fiscal rule, trigger a Truss style market collapse, and the media will crucify Labour to levels never seen before.

Share this with every single person who thinks that Rachel Reeves can use only a wealth tax to fill fiscal gaps. The Treasury would be unlikely to see a penny until 2029. In short, we cannot fund November's budget with a wealth tax.

A brilliant interview with Darren Jones here. I believe he would be a great successor to Keir Starmer when the time comes.

I hate to speculate, but the potential changes to income tax and NI are pretty smart. Low-paid workers will pay the same or less, while the Treasury generates more revenues. Again, this might not happen.

Bridget Phillipson being critised for not following the NYC election is, a prime example of individuals going out of their way to find things to complain about. It also demonstrates how out of touch some groups of individuals online are, regarding what the average voter pays attention to.

I respect her view, and understand her point about trust, but I really do not see how Reeves has any other choice. A wealth tax could work as a recognition of inequality, but won't fix the fiscal gap on its own. The choice is: broad based tax rises or spending cuts.

I've just had a Green supporter suggest to me that this Government is worse than Reform, because Reform haven't "supported a genocide". This is exactly the sort of astronomically stupid take that contributed to Harris losing in the US. And one that many who've had their rights stripped away, regret.

Helen Whately saying today that Motability shouldn't be used by people with ADHD. For what feels like the hundredth time, you have to be on the highest level of MOBILITY to qualify. If people who use them have ADHD, they have other conditions as well.

The annoying reality is, that Rachel Reeves did actually introduce wealth taxes in the last budget, but barely anybody noticed because she didn't use the magic words: wealth tax. If she is going to do a simular package, she should this time call them wealth taxes to make a point.
