Seems the forever DM I have this privilege where I walk up to my player group and pull out a new RPG or one I haven't run in a while and say, "alright so here's how this game works" before I make them make characters, or have them pick pregens I made.

The problem with 40k power scalers is they hear "would this character survive in universe?" and their first thought is that it's that character put into a battle royale against everything else. If Pete the guardsman can exist into his 20's then I'm sure most characters could survive.
