Once again he admired Yoongi hyung’s candidness in admitting when he was afraid, and his bravery in always meeting his fear head-on. “I just want to know why you suddenly feel this way,” Yoongi said. “Now? After over 14 years?”   Namjoon couldn’t help but smile. “Trust you to always know how long it’s been.”   Instead of getting flustered, though, Yoongi hyung simply said, “I always know how long it’s been, with you.”   “That’s touching.”   Yoongi smirked. “Don’t be so full of yourself. After all, I met you on the first day I came to Seoul. And that was 14 years and 4 months ago.” He paused. “It’s a long time, right, Namjoon ah? That’s why hyung wants to know why your feelings have suddenly changed.”

He got up abruptly, beckoning Namjoon to come with him to the sofa. This, Namjoon knew, was Yoongi’s way of inviting him to do what he came for, his way of indicating that he was open to being wooed. On R-chwita he’d teased that his hyung was like an ex-girlfriend he knew too well, by which he’d meant he knew how to read every tensed line of Yoongi’s body, having seen them repeated across countless situations; it was at this moment he realised he could extrapolate them to interpret even the ones he’d never seen before even in these new circumstances, and follow them to see where they’d lead. They sat next to each other. Yoongi’s arms were crossed, bicep leaning against the backrest, while Namjoon propped his elbow up and leaned against his palm. It was strangely intimate, facing each other like this, even though they were not touching. Perhaps it was simply that they had hardly ever faced each other like this, not in the near-decade they’d lived pressed into each other’s lives. This close, with the air around them so still, Namjoon noticed Yoongi’s blush was very fetching.
