This book is low-key one of our library staff's favorites to recommend: it's illustrations are gorgeous, it teaches people about the importance of protecting water sources, features a Native American main character, and is a Caldecott Medal Winner. Borrow it next time you're at the library!

This book is a great choice for kids 8 to 12 years old that will enjoy a story in verse featuring pets that is set during the COVID-19 pandemic on a Native American reservation.
