Secular homeschooling mom of a 3.5 year. Future foster parent! Lymphoma survivor - 2 years remission. Native gardener ❤️
All About Reading Level 1 arrived today!! Any homeschool parents have tips and tricks? I scanned the first lesson and its stuff he already knows but he’s only 4 so I’m going to go through it anyway

How do homeschoolers of more than one child do it? My son is 4 in a few months. He’s starting to be able to read Bob books by himself. Loves math. Actively asks me to learn more stuff. Now I have a baby due before the end of the year and have just zero energy (and zero ability to eat 🥲)

What are some chapter audiobook recommendations for a 3.5 year old? We’ve done the secret garden, Anne of green gables, little house on the prairie and Harry Potter 1-3, boxcar children book 1. (We listen on our way to his extracurriculars .45-.1.5 hours in the car)

We read antiracist baby today (about 4 times). On this page on the last read through my son got really into the image. He asked a lot of questions about the ladders that I explained as best I could to a 3.5 year old. At the end he said “They should have a ramp. Everyone can use a ramp.”

I know all of us who understand what is happening are experiencing mental health challenges because of that.

The only message of comfort I can offer to this community of readers is this: you are correct.

What you think is happening is really happening, and is just as concerning as you think it is.

Our first official day of homeschool using a curriculum! All about reading pre-reading. He already knew everything we did today but I expected that. He’s really at a level 1 in the program but since he’s young I want to keep it fun and let him be ‘good’ at school for now!

This is a thread about book banning. Right now, today, books are being pulled from shelves in libraries and classrooms, some by direct order, some in fear of what's coming. This is *exactly* what Project 2025 said was going to happen. Make no mistake: this is not about books; it's about people. 1/8

What was the most beneficial extracurricular your kid did/does? My son is 3 and is absolutely blossoming in gymnastics and dance! I plan to expand into horseback lessons and tennis once he turns 4
Since we’re homeschooling and he doesn’t attend preschool/daycare he loves having places to be everyday

“Terrible things are happening outside. Poor helpless people are being dragged out of their homes. Families are torn apart. Men, women, and children are separated. Children come home from school to find that their parents have disappeared.”

Any chicken owners here? I haven’t had them since I was younger and I’ve been considering getting some over the past two years. Figured it’s finally time to go for it. What coops did you start with? #backyardchicken #chickens

Our dog decided to eat a big chunk of butter my husband forgot to put up after dinner. We tried getting her to throw up with hydrogen peroxide and couldn’t. The vet recommended we wait and see how she’s acting in the morning. She’s a bigger dog so he’s not too worried thankfully but the poor girl

Our kiwi crate box came yesterday. We did a year of them for J’s first birthday then stopped. For Christmas I restarted the subscription and it’s so great! This month was painting with ice, clay stamps, and little waddling penguins with fish numbered 1-10(he already has great number recognition -

Today the dogs decided exactly 2.5 minutes was plenty of time to do what they needed to do outside. Possibly the very first time my shepherd didn’t spend 15 minutes running from tree to tree chasing the squirrel that likes to antagonize her

My 3 year old’s art is called “Which Way Slide.” One way leads the bottom and the other to a spider web.

He got this easel for Christmas and has been more into the art since we set it up than ever before. I just love the stories all of his art work has attached to it

All About Reading’s Pre-reading curriculum is coming back in stock next week. Anyone have tips for teaching a 3.5 year old with this program?

My son knows all of his letters, uppercase and lowercase in print and maybe 30% in cursive. He knows the phonics of then all and he’s been able to tell us,

Screen time for 3 year olds - does that include watching tv or just mindless tablet/youtube time? For example, do we count watching Sesame Street and talking together about what’s happening as screen time? #parenting #homeschooling #homeeducation

Hello! I'm brand new to the #homeschool community. I have a 3.5 year old and we're officially starting to homeschool in a month so! I'd love to connect with other homeschooling parents!
