Student of history. Realist aka there are no easy solutions to our biggest problems.
Sick of partisan politics for the sake of power vs serving the greater good.
Not expecting anyone to agree with my POV
The Black Hats back home would be so proud of her

Right now an angry minority is the tail wagging the dog and they have a politician in Trump that's more than willing to exploit them to cow moderate republicans into choosing their career in politics or oblivion.
Same scenario here, to a lesser extent, in Canada with Canadian conservative politics

You forgot that those tornadoes simply deflect attention away from himself so...
May 24, 2025 at 3:11 AM
And do you trust Congress to reject it? Or does a mere rubber stamp in the name of political expediency make it ok ?
May 24, 2025 at 2:05 AM
It hasn't been about democracy for awhile now.
It's about getting the reigns of power and then holding onto it come hell or high water. Even if it means selling out
May 24, 2025 at 2:04 AM
Yep...nailed it. Once again filling his pockets all in the name of draining the swamp😂
May 24, 2025 at 2:02 AM
That would take Congressional Republicans to grow a spine and the Supreme Court to uphold the rule of law ( VRS the whims of a tyrant king... right?)
Neither have shown much in regards to that
May 24, 2025 at 2:01 AM
That's how Trump rolls. Purely transactional without any thought re: the checks and balances that supposedly make US democracy the be all, end all.
May 24, 2025 at 1:59 AM
If you mean a politician... yeah.

What he did on Jan 6th should have landed him in jail.
But...Politics is about power and keeping power. Republicans knew if they sent him to jail they'd be in the wilderness for a long time.

Eating at the trough vs being on the outside is a powerful motivator vs what's right

But they are needed more than ever.
Sadly a lot of Americans view that constitution as a sacred and near perfect document ( despite the several previous amendments). And both sides cling to those sections that resonate with them.
So yeah...good luck

Any religion that believes in a small powerful, all knowing deity is a lie .

Nor the dependence of retirement funds linked to stock market performance. Sadly this philosophy has become cemented in our economic system. Wild West capitalism led to literally a dozen market crashes in the US from 1800 on.
It's gonna take a big war to reset sadly
May 24, 2025 at 12:52 AM
That is THE biggest issue we face.
We've been sold a pack of lies re: lower taxes and less government interference.
Lower corporate taxes lead to economic growth. Etc. Reagan couldn't have foreseen the almost complete disappearance of company pensions, etc.

I'm not sure it's so much cognitive decline as it is he just doesn't give an eff because he's going to make sure this time he can't be prosecuted after he's out of office.
He's old and he riffs off script. It happens
May 24, 2025 at 12:44 AM
DM me if you can keep it civil
May 24, 2025 at 12:42 AM
Very very disappointed IMO.
Mind you The US was built on dissatisfied people for the most part ( Puritans, etc) so I suppose today's MAGA surgence shouldn't be that big of a surprise.
I'm not saying there's not a similar discord in Canada but it's not strong enough as of now
May 24, 2025 at 12:40 AM
To quote George Costanza... it's the same pipes
May 24, 2025 at 12:35 AM
Again...she's lowered the bar on signatures needed to have questions put forward on ballots. It can work both ways. Actually it can make her look even more incompetent because it'll be harder to gaslight the rest of us non Kool aid drinkers
May 24, 2025 at 12:34 AM
It's Nazi Germany but slightly less obvious
May 21, 2025 at 11:53 PM
And I'm not saying abortion rights, etc etc are not important. It's reading the room.
Imo the Dems made the same mistake the provincial equivalent did in Alberta Canada..they assumed that enough voters would easily realize the opposition leader is a nut job therefore...
May 21, 2025 at 11:52 PM
Because Biden decided to run again. The Dems made the election about abortion rights etc vs the economy and enough of the soft vote fell for his election promises.
The problems facing most democratic nations can't be solved in 1 election cycle. Keep that in mind next time
May 21, 2025 at 11:50 PM
You betcha.
Guessing your ok with people being deported without due process too. As long as you're not affected right?
