Last night I worked as an “Undercaker” for THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS Taste Along for my friend @conjurers_kitchen It was so much fun! We served tons of treats throughout the film including glow in the dark bat 🦇 cookies and glow in the dark gummy worms.

Tonight @tcm will be showing an evening of musicals including “42nd Street”, “Footlight Parade” and “Gold Diggers of 1933”. These films were all huge hits in the 30s and helped people escape the dark days of The Great Depression. Over ninety years later, they still have that power.

Tonight I attended an event to celebrate the unveiling of the new “Gangster Squad” exhibit at the L.A. Police Museum. I got to meet some fascinating people tonight and shake the hand of the police officer who arrested Richard Ramirez aka “The L. A. Night Stalker”. It was an epic night!

I love Photoplay Magazine, particularly issues from the 1920s. This is one of the few original issues that I own. It is so fragile, but I still manage to enjoy it.

Today I went to The Three Stooges Big Screen event at the historic Alex Theatre in Glendale. It was so fun to see these films in beautiful 35mm prints on a big screen with such an enthusiastic audience! I laughed so much and it was good for my soul.

I just got back from the @sfsilentfilm I’ve been attending this festival pretty much every year since 2001. They have stunning film prints, incredible musicians and the festival is attended by film preservationists from around the world. This year the festival was held at the historic Orinda Theater

Tonight Close-Up and I watched the pre-code LOOSE ANKLES (1930) starring Loretta Young and Douglas Fairbanks Jr. The film has plenty of evening gowns, compromising positions and a prohibition raid at a big circus themed nightclub. It is not a cinematic masterpiece, but it’s a really fun film! 🎥 🎬🎞️👩✈️🤡

I feel so fortunate to live in a city with so many historic movie palaces. Last night I went to The Vista Theatre in Los Feliz. It first opened in 1923 and was originally called the Lou Bard Playhouse or Bard’s Hollywood. The first film to premiere there was TIPS starring Baby Peggy.
