I've come to an interesting epiphany about my character Scarlet and the world she loves in. Because she's a Beast Hunter and Tracker, she'd have to be prepared, smart, and practically about her job.I thought I was doing that with her having cool weapons until my brain went"she needs rope and string"

Small Lore Bit:
Pänlea'Sorta is further beyond The Otaga Empire (before it was known as Otage Empire), and has many abandoned beaches that were forgotten to time because of the war that roared across the entirety of Otaga and her lands. It's where the "SS Mary Ann Discoverer" was found.

This compass was a rare find from a by-gone era of travel and discovery, foundbin Pänlea'Sorta, on one of its many abandoned beaches. The ship it was found on was blown clear in half, or more likely torn in half by something massive. But what was really odd about this beach was blotched out on any satellite maps or aerial maps. It was like the area no longer existed, or they were trying to erase it from anything. What was found there when Luna and Vistle traveled to the abandoned beach was the "SS Mary Ann Discoverer," which was spit clean in half. The "SS Mary Ann Discoverer" was a wealth of knowledge and history that Luna dove into, considering the ship still had parts that were still intact and was made from a mixture of wood of metal considering newer ships were built from synthetic wood and silicone because they lasted longer, while any and all older ships built from wood and metal were disassemble for parts or lost to the sands of time. This meant someone like Luna could learn something from past generations. She would spend hours exploring the massive ship, cataloging everything she saw and read (even if she couldn't understand the language), noting to herself to ask Wraith what everything meant since she saw the same symbols on Wraith and in his room. But some things in there were damaged, and (and this is a very big AND) the technology wasn't anything she's seen before.This only made Luna interested in what was going on. She would spend from sunbup to sun down trying to figure out how everything worked through trial and error.

Interesting Clothing Lore Bits: Scarlet's Sword: • It's a Scottish Claymore that used to be her mother's (Amadla "The Beast" Estrella). The sword, Dearil (death) Keiran (black or dark), was gifted to her by a Scottish red dragon named Wraith. He had given it to her after she had saved him from almost certain death, and he granted her Dearil Keiran and made her lineage (she was 5 months pregnant with Scarlet at the time) his new descendants and lineage, because his was entirely massacred by an enemy. Once Amadla died/disappeared, Scarlet inherited it since she was the first born. • The blade of the claymore has the word "Punishment" engraved on it, in the Ogham Alphabet. Scarlet's Compass: • The compass was a deep clean and repair + upgrade job by Luna, Scarlet's younger sister, who found it while going out with Vistle to Pänlea'Sorta and she thought (with a litte love and TLC) that it would be useful to her big sister, because of the job she has. • Single spiral and Love Knot on the chain of the compass. The outfits, or least one of the ones she wares depending on the job, that Scarlet wares that has the gas mask and headphones she uses to keep in touch with HQ (her little sister Luna or who ever she's working with at the time).

When I was redrawing and repurposing her character for something else, like all artists and writers who change their minds, I wanted to make sure the world of Otaga was Sci Fi Fantasy themed. I did that by looking up and reading different different sub genres of Cyberpunk and Sci Fi, as well as subcategories of Fantasy. Then, I made a list for each character that would fit them best and characterize the most. With this one, it's a redraw of when I tried to put her in NanoPunk for the first time, which was a redraw of her original outfit when she was Scarlet Star and an fan character of League of Legends Akali in her KDA skin(I'll probably do the original now that I'm more confidant in my skills). This time, I gave her baggy pants, thicker hightop shoes, got rid of the hat in this version (for now), added more scars (I did these redraw out of order) and gave it some sort of logic that made sense to me. I made use of more references that were NanoPunk adjacent and did my own rendition of the theme that would fit my world. I wanted to give her a "are you serious" and "do you really want to proceed with that choice" kind of look.

A full body of what Scarlet looks like, it's also a redraw of a redraw that I felt didn't fit her character well. I gave more scars and hardened fearures. She's buff but still feminine and covered in meaningful tattoos.

Because of the dangers Otaga and the dangerous job Scarlet has as a Beast Hunter and Tracker, not having a most of some sort would be a death wish and irresponsible.

The mask also holds cultural importance for Scarlat as someone who is of Léos Príja and Sürrín descent.

Léos Príja people saw dogs and wolves as guardians and protectors as well as guides of their people, while Sürrín's saw skulls of both human and animal in close association with death and the afterlife. Considering what Scarlet does as a job, it makes perfect sense for her to have a gas mask that isn't just a wolf, but a wolf skull with its fangs bared. She's a preditor and acts accordingly with her prey.

The world of Otaga is a harsh one, stained by bloody wars and harsh rebellions. This world is not kind to those just trying to live and some form of a stable life, when everything and almost everyone wants to kill its residents.

This is a sketch for a project for my college class, and he practically gave us free rain of what we could do for it. So I did something inspired by The Saga comics (specifically Sextillion), Cyberpunk 2099 (look up the poster for then in game they are amazing), and Blade Runner/Ghost in the Shell.
