I wrote this piece in 2020 to my boys as I reflected on those in the collective we lost at the hands of those labeled as protectors. What would my message be to my children if this world were to unjustly take me away? This poem is my response. 2025 is giving 2020 vibes so I keep coming back to it. 🫂

Me on December 5, 2024. I’ve had a lot of smoke for them so this drop and boycott makes me happy. We need to continue hitting the pockets of these corporations especially Amazon bc prime doesn’t prime anymore and they need to treat their employees better 💪🏾 Bring back stores 😩

I was watching and reading everything since November 2019 about the virus. When it made to America I knew it as a wrap. We’ve lost so much and so many in 5 years. So much unaddressed grief by so many around us. 💔

From my book IN A HIGH PLACE: Black Motherhood and a Woman Rising, based on the Kwanzaa principle Ujima, I wrote about this lack of collective responsibility within white communities. It’s all I thought about watching that video. 😵💫 Black people uphold this even if we don’t celebrate Kwanzaa.

It’s all a coup. I want us to start calling it that. Every headline, every action, every illegal activity. These people don’t have the clearance level or the need to know which are determining factors in accessing classified information. To STILL access it anyway !!??? it’s a coup.
