Afraid of her? No, I’m afraid of myself. Something about her being close to him made him feel terrified; made his heart quicken, made his nerves spike. He gulped hard before looking down at her, heat creeping across his face as he did. She’s – she’s beautiful. She, he frowned, she looks – she looks, no. He fought the voices in his mind screaming at him, screaming out that despite her beauty, she simply looked delicious.

“Stay here.” Klaus called back to Annalise, running over to the musket that sat above the fireplace. He didn’t even know how to use the thing, but he wasn’t going out there unarmed. He didn’t wait for Annalise to respond, he simply ran out the front door, bee-lining for the farmstead just beside them. Junkers and his wife were far too elderly to fight off whatever kind of beast might have found its way inside, but Klaus wasn’t sure if he could manage any better. Though, none of that mattered right now, for all his thoughts went blank as he neared the back entrance of their home. The door was missing, cast aside in the tall grass like it had been ripped from the structure. What could have done that much damage, was it a bear? This close to the village? Is it rabid? A few lights flickered inside the home, but it was awfully quiet, and still quite dark. He tried to force back his uneasiness with a gulp; he needed to see if they were alright. Klaus slowly stepped inside, raising the musket as he walked along the hallway, his eyes darting to every corner.

this story in particular is a representation of an eating disorder I struggle with myself, and Klaus develops over the course of the story to cope and learn from his vampirism/blood cravings

it makes him feel worse about himself , he sees as what he is/what the vampires who turn him as monsters, and doesnt want to prove that he is one...losing his temper shows exactly that , he's "just like them"
