Current levels of common pollutants in the #RiverLea.

We have consistently Poor levels of phosphate. A better picture for nitrogen in ammonia levels, but there have been some unexplained spikes.

The authorities should be collecting this data - and acting on it!

Lost Nature: a must-read report.

Thank you @wildjustice.bsky.social

Makes us reflect on all the pressure we put on the LVRPA to deliver new habitats when it rebuilt the ice centre. Clearly time well spent - unlike most promised - they were actually delivered.

Important planning decisions always seem to take place at Christmas!

Today Waltham Forest Council officially submitted its Local Plan 2 to the Planning Inspectorate.

We regard this plan as unsuitable and risky. Keep posted here in the early new year about developments and action.

The digested report digested:

6m homes at-risk of flooding; London properties most at-risk from surface water flooding - 4.6m at-risk in total (43% increase from previous EA assessment); 88% increase in those at highest risk; flood defences cut by 40%

= no excuse for building on floodplain here!

Direct action works 👏💚

The people of Leyton rose up in 1892 to defend Leyton Marsh and in 1994 to stop the M11 link road.

We'll carry that spirit of creativity, courage and 'cheek' to defend this special part of the world in 2024! 💪
