which, also, he expressed some concern for ryoko throughout the game’s events, but it really ramped up during the final battle, where he expresses deep concern when she’s injured in battle, to the point where even ei tells him to back off.

this doesn’t mean too much on its own, but going back to kamitani’s scenario from the dev interview, he stated that gouto eventually fell for morimura after working alongside her, that he fell for her after trying to understand her.

see: renya either not recognizing or being in outright denial of his feelings for morimura until the very end of the game. even then he says it was a cheap impulse but his feelings were his entire motivation.
