A Steller's jay regards you from a wooden railing, their head turned to the left. They appear to be fairly relaxed with their blue-flecked crest laid back. Their breast feathers are poofed up for warmth on a chilly day, in sharp focus showing every detail of their feathers and talons.

Got to see the aurora for the second time in my life today, even though it's hints of color in the sky to my own eyes.

For being stuck in the middle of Kirkland during fall, in the PNW, I'll take it!

They're corvids & they scream a lot!

It's fun watching them figure out just the right angle of approach to take your peanuts, then still go-around for whatever silly reason they have.

Birds overall, such an enviable freedom of movement and way more going on up there than we think!

The ride back home on the last ferry from Bremerton on Saturday was really neat :3
A photo of the Seattle skyline, seen from the Bremerton ferry on approach to Seattle, at around midnight. The Puget Sound is fairly calm, with small surface ripples and very long, straight, and shallow waves running parallel to the ferry’s course giving the sound a minor washboard appearance. The sky has scattered clouds, illuminated from below by the city lights, and from above by the waning gibbous moon. All of the skyscrapers downtown are visible, as is the Space Needle. A photo of the port-side upper deck of the M/V Chimacum sailing the Seattle-Brenerton route, on the last trip of the day. The deck is completely empty, every seat unoccupied from stem to stern. Small lights dot the cabin walls, illuminating the scene with sodium-yellow light, occasionally augmented by cooler white light pouring through a window.

I love that we get deer wandering through our back yard; a doe and a fawn stopped by today!

It illustrates how I feel about storms very well.
Against a dark, purple-hued stormy sky, an anthro jaguar half-kneels and half-squats on a fern-covered ridge. He has one knee on the ground, the other up, with a paw braced on it for balance, observing the storm intently, illuminated by a forked bolt of lightning striking behind a distant hilltop, clearly appreciating the awesome view and show.
