I guess my point is that one could just as easily say that the majority of registered voters demonstrated that they didn’t care one way or the other. In that sense, they cancel themselves out of this particular argument, technically citizens or not. That’s how I see it.

Your argument sort of falls apart at the end. If 90 million people didn’t vote, then 90 million people didn’t care. They’re not with you on this. Think about it.
