Here is the latest blanket finished. All sock yarn mill ends. I think they are Universal Yarn Zesty Sock, Wisdom Yarn Sugar Saki, Mayflower Venus Sock, and Cascade Heritage Prints.

At least they’re all woven in and just need trimming.

So apparently I’m not content with buying paint, I have to try making it.

So, I’ve been unwell for nearly 3 weeks, and I still don’t feel great, but today I am going to vote.

I’m just so angry right now that I can’t put it into words.

So where was I at, reviewing the crochet hooks? This is the hook that all the others aspire to be like, the Clover Amour. The finish is immaculate, the grip comfortable. I have only one, they’re listed at my LYS for AU$13-16 each in sizes 0.6mm-15mm, and also in sets. I would definitely buy again.

This one was a surprise. These Tulip-clone hooks are quite good. Soft rubbery handles, smooth metal surface. The hook is quite prominent so it grabs the yarn well.
I paid AU$5.14 for a set of 3 (3,4,5mm).

Adding colour. I used the Kuretake Gansai Tambi granulating watercolours. Before and after removing the masking fluid.

Wooden handled crochet hook. Mediocre quality, not a very smooth finish on either the wood or metal. I got accurate tension on the square but the hook was uncomfortable to hold with pencil grip. It was AU$4.98 for one hook on AliExpress and I think you can get far better for a couple of $ more.

New drawing started. Masking fluid is useful but icky.

I tested out some new granulating watercolour paints, and learned a lot with this drawing.

Based on an 11th century Urnes style Box Brooch found in Gotland, Sweden.

The difference between this square and my “control square” made with the Pony hook.

These hooks were the most disappointing by far. The handles are a nice shape and weight. The problem is that the finish on the metal is rough and grips the yarn to the point of being almost impossible to use. (Continued in the comments)

What do you do when you mess up inking your drawing? Use the window as a light box!

This one is described as being “imitation jade” and I think it’s a resin handle. I enjoyed using this one. It was nice to hold and the metal is smooth. It’s small and light, and stitches were effortless. (Continued in comments)

Today we’re looking at these “ergonomic” crochet hooks. They’re just ok, but I do have some issues with them. They are modelled on the shape of Addi Swing hooks however the distance between where you hold the hook and the tip of the hook is longer, so you have to make bigger movements. (Cont…)
