I had a great time playing The Sandcastle with Suspense Studios a few weeks ago, Jubensha is a rare find in the UK right now so keep an eye out for opportunities like this one 👀
Re-upping for the morning crowd: I'm organising a Jubensha Convention in London for 8-9th May 2026!

Come and play jubensha, meet top game designers, and learn how it's designed. It's *probably* the first jubensha English-language convention in the world...

Tickets will be around £15!
Pre-announcing my Jubensha Convention
Come to my Jubensha convention in London on 8-9th May 2026!

Experienced what can only be described as a transcendent night of queer trans joy - seeing Kae Tempest live tonight in Manchester

Had a great time at Hamish Con yesterday. I joined a Jubensha session with Suspense Studio, and really enjoyed the semi-cooperative deduction. Also played - Homalet, Joraku, Faraway, TRND, Lunar Trick, Genchari Bancho and Nokosu Dice. And of course, I bought some new #boardgames

Incredible scenes at Hamish Con (hosted by @travelgames.bsky.social) featuring a game using "the bit of a pen clicker that pops out" as a launch mechanism for a dexterity game (Genchari Bancho) #boardgames

Time for more Old King's Crown! This game is pretty wild, I'm happy my group is committing to getting stuck into regular games, I really want to dig into these systems. First game with The Gathering involved, and wow they have some wild cards #boardgames

Y'all should definitely check out But Why Vikings? from @ava.foxfort.net @giantbrain.co.uk and @timclare.bsky.social where they answer any and all tabletop questions! Managed to stop myself from getting too steamy thinking about building trade houses in the mediterranean as I listened this morning.

First game of The Old King's Crown! Took a few rounds to really start to grasp the systems at play here, so very excited to play again tomorrow. Between the kingdom cards, faction cards and tactics... there are a lot of opportunities for interesting interactions and shenanigans. #boardgames

Feeling somewhat indulgent. Wrapped up in a blanket, with a hot chocolate and staying up later than normal because I just absolutely had to get to the end of a good book... been a while since something got its hooks in me like Scarlet Morning has.

Also Magical Athlete by @cmyk.games continues to impress at the #boardgames club. Raucous laughter from two different groups playing, funnily enough both shenanigans with Mouth - one in which Mouth got eaten by Copycat and another where Flip Flop swapped with Mouth and then promptly got eaten.

Got some great #boardgames to the table this week. My friends favourite game is Arcs, and I'm always happy to encourage that addiction. We also busted out one of my partners favourites, Clans of Caledonia, and some new members at our local club introduced me to Moon Colony Bloodbath.

Back home from #NetrunnerWorlds25 after a great weekend. Picked up more than a few incredible alt art cards from the artist colony, including the unexpected crossover of Netrunner with one of my favourite #boardgames, Arcs!

#NetrunnerWorlds25 today has been a blast. I cannot sing the praises of this community, and the organisers enough. Such a friendly, welcoming event - was rewarding to just play games with so many different people and gave me the motivation to play all eleven rounds.

Had a really fun day at ACWest. Met up with @gingerbeardgeekdad.bsky.social and other friends. Played Heat, Arcs, Magical Athlete, Out of Sorts, The Gang and Nokosu Dice.

As ever, got to play a bunch of great games, but also a fantastic bunch of folks to play those games with #boardgames

Suffering the consequences of my own actions... currently stuck in the worst standoff for Outage Spreads in @leder.games's Arcs #boardgames

Egizia: Shifting Sands and Botanicus tonight! Both feature one-way action selection tracks. Egizia asks, can you squeeze more actions in before that spot is taken? Botanicus is tactical, maybe you take a worse action now to go first next? Expect groans when players are pipped to actions #boardgames

Enjoying a full day of #Netrunner playtesting with @sarazaraki.bsky.social ahead of Worlds in Edinburgh next month

Not one but two packages waiting for me when I got home from my trip - the latest copy of @senetmagazine.bsky.social (always excited to read more words from @timclare.bsky.social) - and a copy of Nokosu Dice, via @travelgames.bsky.social, which I've heard nothing but great praise for #boardgames

Spent the last 3 days playing boardgames with friends! Including: Castle Combo, Faraway, SETI, Yro, Shipyard, LoTR Duel, Galactic Cruise, Tangram City, Ettin, Boitas, Joraku, Trickadee, Tzolk'in, Broom Service, Rebirth, Compile, Black Forest, Quashars and Watch... phew... #boardgames
September 17, 2025 at 8:27 AM
Managed to get a copy of Trickadee by @coinflip.games, played first game tonight, and gotta say I think I'm in love with this inventive trick-taker in which you build flocks of birds. Winning can be good to get first pick, but losing gets you seeds to spend on abilities, a fun dilemma #boardgames

Inis! I hadn't played this in a while, but I have a friend who favours high player interaction games, so I suggested it. Went down well, and I've gotta get this to the table more. It's a very swingy game, but even though you might get hit hard, it always feels possible to make a comeback #boardgames

Really enjoyed my first play of Watch (by @dnlnwmn.bsky.social) tonight. The game squeezes you with a lot of pressure - you only have 12 turns, can you risk paying a bribe, what about player order, oh and don't forget the majority scoring! Every round is a really fun decision to consider #boardgames

Sundays are for the local board game club in the afternoon. Played some new games (Tulikko, Get on Board), and some fan favourites (Harvest, Harmonies) today #boardgames

Chuffed to have found the time to play several heavier games this week. Including first time plays of Botanicus (satisfying efficiency puzzle), and The Grand Trunk Journey (very much melted my brain with it's multi use cards), as well as a game of the ever fantastic Arcs. #boardgames

Spent the day playing couch co-op #Sunderfolk. It's a really delightful tactical digital boardgame and a lot of fun to play in the company of your friends. Took us a couple of attempts to beat the Act 1 boss Ogre Queen on Challenging, so it's no slouch on difficulty either #boardgames
