I think it's a sound mixing issue. In your video at 0:04, the crowd noise seems to go way down as the singer starts. It would be a nice (and passive) nod to current events if the broadcast raised the level on background noise relative to the singer. 🇨🇦

True. That makes it a no-lose proposition for the Americans to fight. Either they get the one-sided win for bonus energy or they get normal boost from a regular fight. With the guys who picked the fights, they ain't getting dummied themselves. Makes sense for them to triple dip on those odds.

I don't think most hockey fights have winners and loses. Americans just wanted to fire their team up, and whether you "win" or "lose", a hockey fight will do that. I bet team USA thinks they won those fights.
