Just started reading this from another one of my classes. We are reading this in preparation for creating a website. so far a few interesting parallels and conflicts between this and McLuhan. They aren't really saying the same thing but both want audiences to be aware of what we consume.

"The invention of type
created linear, or sequential, thought, separating
thought from action." This reminds me of our SEM's and how we will separate the two versions until we experience a shift...

This is a great quote to end on because softens the message of the text sense it's basically saying we will always be afraid of the future but it still seems foreboding, it is especially scary sense the future of the media from when this was published until now was frightening!

This pic is so interesting to me at first I saw it and thought it was a statement about religion, but after thinking about it more I feel like it is more of a reminder that ideas will only remain true if they are constantly being circulated , like in the media.

Considering my last post I think that McLuhan would be obviously no in favor of social media. But an important distinction in his argument would be that its the media on the apps that is dangerous it is the algorithms that the companies use to keep us hooked that's dangerous.

I am beginning to understand that all of the seemingly "random" pictures are intentional. The unorganized and non traditional layout is the first thing I and commented about and its proving the point of the text by showing how perceiving the medium is more important than the content itself.

Reading this now in 2026 is crazzy, it says it was published in 1967 it is wild to think that Doom scrolling and social media induced anxiety was predicted almost 60 years ago and 40 years before the internet was even created.

This Cartoon definitely holds true today I often feel either to overwhelmed with the amount of new media or by the shocking content of it.

Reading this kind of made me realize that the organizations that are the most powerful are the ones that we often overlook or don't question because we see them as being normal. For example how normalized drinking is and how ingrained into social life it is.

The line starting with "Our"Age of Anxiety"" is interesting to me because most of the anxiety I experience or I see others experience is from a lack of tools that was not made early in life and when someone reaches back on those tools and dont have them they experience anxiety.

I think that in this quote they are saying that the "nature" meaning the structure is more important the the actual content of the media or communication itself. By more important I mean it has a bigger impact on all of us which is the opposite of what you would assume.
This paragraph slowly as tarts to make less and less sense. Are the misspellings intentional?is the excess of zzzz's meaningful to the message of the article? I think its meant to grab the reader's attention.

"Our time is a time for crossing barriers, for erasing
old categories—for probing around." This line reminds me of what college is supposed to be (figuring things out) yet it is so easy and so common to base you actions and decisions on the media we consume.

I am not fully grasping how my own voice and the use of AI will intertwine in this class. Im sure in time I will understand.

false you CANNOT post late to bluesky. It is confusing and messes up the live reaction element.

I don't have any confusion about the bluesky Canvas workflow. I know how it affects my grade and the purpose of each part.

I am feeling excited for this class so far it has defeated my expectations and I have never had such an engaging online class.
