I was simply pointing out the obvious: raising taxes to fund essential public services has never been the Republican bread and butter. And as much as people like to throw around wild comparisons, I think we can all agree that centrist, establishment Democrats are not Fascist dictators.

I mean, there was a socialist mayor in 1911-1913 and many prewar republicans were progressive do-gooders. There’s an argument to be made that even though the parties switched, there’s been far more continuity than disruption in a small, conservative, college town.

My least Berkeley-YIMBY opinion is that I think that this is Berkeley’s best building from the past two decades and I really support efforts to amend the objective design standards to create more of these historical-pastiche midrises.

I’m not as familiar with this: what constitutes “not being able to board a bus?” Scooter and wheelchair users ride busses - is this service mainly for the bedridden or people on ventilators?

I assume having standard gauge on the second tunnel means two different sets of rolling stock and would make future maintenance more difficult. Could also limit how future stations are configured. How much would it cost to turn all of BART into standard gauge?
