The syllabus is publicly available—as dictated by Texas law. It is a really impressive document. Each day includes supporting scholarly articles and clearly documents what will be discussed. It is a model of academic integrity and reflects current academic conversations in YA literature.

It’s the smallness of these realizations that hurts me most. Alone, it all seems insignificant, but all together, the loss is staggering.

We need to start a list of grievances, like the Declaration, that must be remedied immediately (if this nightmare ever ends).

I really like how Well-Grounded points to next steps for checking credibility and reading laterally. It seems like a natural extension of the SIFT Method!

I’m most surprised that Oscar Wilde and James Baldwin made the list.

I’m a community college instructor who works with high school instructors who teach our concurrent enrollment courses / AP courses. One recently told me he just assigns “The Awakening” because no matter the test question, it works. No need to do anything else.

I’m teaching Suzanne Wang’s short story “Mall of America” this semester. Groundbreaking is a hard quality, but I liked this one!
