According to a study done by Prof. Hugues Bersini, ULB researcher Julien Baudru, and VUB researchers Seorin Kim, Vincent Ginis, and Wouter Ryckbosch, large language models are capable of yielding more accurate transcriptions of historical records than traditional OCR/HTR systems.
