Yeah I feel like certain unnamed labels’ poor mastering and high defect rates make more sense when I remember their median customer doesn’t even take the record out of the sleeve

I remember reading an article awhile back where they talked to a bunch of funko collectors and yeah, most of them had nothing to say about whether they looked good/bad/whatever. People wanted to buy Things of fandom characters they liked and funko was what existed

There’s honestly something interesting and distinctive about no-interpolation Quake. I get why most versions don’t do that anymore but it’s part of the original-original experience!

Separating out the from-source stuff from the binary installer wouldn’t be the end of the world, but it would mean if you entirely cut off the client from doing from-source builds you’d no longer be able to install from 99% of unofficial package repositories. And those are widely used.

So at the point where you’re maintaining a Ruby interpreter and a full copy of the formula API, what did you get from RIIR?

Yeah, the thing is even if you constrained the client to only installing binary packages (so you didn’t need to run the Ruby formula for build scripts, and stuck to the static JSON binary receipts), you’d *still* need to run arbitrary Ruby postinstall scripts.

Right?? Like okay it saved you time but it looks like shit. I don’t want album art to look like shit. Or to all look the same.
