We’re what now??
May I see a link from a reputable source that we’re “threatening military action” because all I’m seeing is the possibility of us sending more troops to Greenland for exercises with NATO.
Threatening the US in that manner would be exceedingly stupid... www.cbc.ca/news/politic...
Carney weighs sending soldiers to Greenland for military exercises with NATO allies: sources | CBC News

12F in Parkland County AB. Actually, I like it better in Fahrenheit. It seems less brutal than -11C. But I’m a bit of a wimp. At least, it’s warmer than last week..

Claude is going to insist Christmas Eve is on a Tuesday this year too? Why is it acceptable to pay the societal and environmental costs of misinformation machines so billionaires can pretend to have friends?

Last comment re: connecting to the grid is per an open house with TransAlta Nov. 20 and 21, 2025. Also, the province is withholding a ton of the tax revenue from municipalities to give back to the DCs after a period of time.

Ugh. My point re: upgrade is that it’s capacity to be added. TA/KH is one site approved in the first round for 230mw of datacenter capacity at that location. The upgrade would provide about 800MW. Also, province has decided DC power now has to come from the grid instead of “bring your own power”.

TransAlta looking to upgrade Keephills 1 - partially for AI datacenter capacity. They also want to locate a datacenter @ same site. 2 separate projects. Residents are opposing. The second may have been a factor in a nearly complete change in council at the last election. It sure influenced my vote.

Edit: generator didn’t start up.
October 31, 2025 at 1:16 AM
One specific scenario I remember is the power company changing out the transformers outside the building. The outage was longer than anticipated, the generator did the start up, & the hardware replacement budget was … insufficient. But yeah, cooling was hugely important even back in my day (2000s)

Back in my datacenter adjacent days, we lost most hardware after extended power outages - fortunately few & far between. Outages that exceeded backup power often took out drives especially & other hardware that had been running for years - sometimes more than a decade. Just didn’t power up again.

I’m so tired of assholes getting rich on enshitification of our world.

Anyway, get a library card, trust no website, use your brain, let the LLMs fail: chatgt, gemini, claude, etc.

Don’t reward bad behaviour.

to restrict our access to truth.

I have no interest in feeding the machine so I don’t post to my website anymore since seeing chatgpt crawling it. Can’t trust 97% of the Internet and sources that should be trustworthy (NIH, etc.) are being actively destroyed. Information isn’t for the elite! (2/3)

This is so wonderful to know! Thank you! I’ll set aside some time to practice and try it out.

Wonder if - with some practice - this could be used for afterthought heels or toes on circular sock machine knit socks (most often cranked in reverse of the way we hand knit) I usually end up purling so many rows (with lots of muttering) or kludge by changing direction anyway with the new yarn.

Oh, that’s uhm, a really uh,… generous offer but really, no thank you.

Canada doesn’t LET anything into the US. Cdn BP lets (or doesn’t) INTO Canada. US BP is responsible for anything into the US. We can beef up our side, it’s just stops more coming from the US into Canada. This lie about drugs coming into US from Canada is about priming the pump for something else.

The cuts are going to kill Americans & the downstream effects are going to lead to millions of deaths across the world. The cuts to NIH funding? That’s setting the world back decades. USAID? That’s our money too. Canada sends money to USAID to help the rest of the world. www.cbc.ca/amp/1.7455291

None of us are laughing at the US.
We're watching in horror as this unfolds & it seems like nothing's going to stop it.
We're doomscrolling.
We're trying to make contingency plans so you don't destroy us along w/ yourselves.
We're going to need therapy when this ends, however it ends.
If we survive.

I’m laughing mostly because this exact thing happens here with the same cat I had to ask not to put her furry buttocks on my cinnamon bun the other day.

Completely agree. Also check your local library for knit clubs.
