Teachers plan vacations during the year based on the pre planned vacations, if those become a snow make up day you can get screwed out of your vacation or have to take unpaid days which become very costly to the educator. Snow days still happen kids are just encouraged to discover learning at home

2/ sounds like educators and students were not talked to in research for this article, kids are doing all of those things, just encouraged to put and educational spin on it. Not having “flex” days negatively affects teachers, as snow make up days happen by taking away a pre-planned vacation day. 2/

Kids still have all the joy of a snow day. in the “flex learning day” kids get they are encouraged to experiment with learning from home, bake something with an adult, play a board game, read in a homemade fort, go outside and play for PE. All of the excitement of snow days are still happening. 1/
