How's the tickling going for you?

It's so earnest, though, that I am sort of won over.

Genius.

I agree that one looks weird.

Earnestness rules! Were it not for the dogs and cats here, which license unironic sentiment, I couldn't bear it.

Suck up and punch down.

E. was such an obvious pseud that I doubt he fooled anyone, but he gave people things they wanted.

These people are not well.

The complaints that "well obviously this was an allusion..." or "CLEARLY this was not meant seriously" amount to "what a rube" eye-rolling.

Also: not everyone starts from the same cultural knowledge base, or has learned the same reading practices for teasing out layers of irony. Some may be looking at this through translation software.

Yes. Simple rules will *by their nature* sometimes produce decisions that seem odd on the individual merits.

You do not want mods having to do lengthy critical exegesis.

Such a strange mix of deep cringe and OK-they're-doing-something-interesting.

Occurred to me when I saw it that they'd have, to if they wanted to stay remotely consistent.

There could be more if them, no? A whole subculture of Admiral cosplay.

This is exactly what I need right now. Can we have more tail pictures, whenever there's time for that?

She has been so consistently pleasant and decent in this campaign, despite Harrell's condescension. I hope she gets credit.

If you tell an LLM what to say it will say that. The article you link to is childishly credulous. There is no "mind" there to change.

This one was amazing! It's *mostly* listening. Very little snark or visual jokes: he dials his personality way back and lets this woman emerge. I've never seen a politician do that.

Shouldn't the order be the other way around?

We need a nautical Mad Max movie featuring these.

Thanks for doing this work! It's hard to get a general sense of what's on economists' minds at a particular moment, and this is particularly rich.

That's great! Now I seriously have to read this.

Looks like a very tasty book! I have a vague sense that ideology of continuous progress dates to mid-1800s, but the tech part is not there yet, so the implicit dating here makes sense.
