Well yeah supply and demand are the chief determinant of price regardless, but factors such as age play a role in car buying. People will pay extra for the same car without a previous owner. I don't think that's really true of houses. Folks just don't care if a house is brand new!

There is a district difference in the sensitivity to how old the product is between buyers of houses and cars. People expect a house to be useful for decades if not longer while most assume their car won't last ten years. Not apples-to-apples.

They also need to promote non-driving options for getting there!!

San Fan froze many of its neighborhoods in this low density suburbia vibe and I'll bet thats brought the tech bros with more money than sense to set up shop there with their misfit tanks. Upzone the whole city, massive road diet, see what happens!

Maybe just because I haven't spent enough time in NYC but I much prefer NOLA, Boston, San Fran and Seattle. Chicago too tbh. In my few days in NY I felt like folks were way meaner than other cities. NOLA people are the best. I am from the South though.
