Chantal Morel from the KPM Center for Health management reminded all that collecting data requires well functioning health systems and Joseph Lewnard remarked that hospital-based sentinels systems and microbiology labs would support appropriate attribution of AMR-related deaths.

He added that beyond bacterial pathogens, viral infections such as influenza, rotavirus or RSV are responsible for a significant proportion of antibiotic use - by preventing disease, #vaccines can reduce the need for treatment and the risk of secondary infections, relieving selective pressure.
