I was awake much of the night giving up on retirement in 2 years, and thinking about all the bad things that are likely to happen now that Russia is free to roam around our cyber infrastructure. My animals are the only thing keeping me sane. Walking with Gator helps.

My morning walks with Gator help keep me sane. I usually post pictures and musings on FB, but I am boycotting. Maybe this is the beginning of a new habit. See the turkeys in the wooded area? It is rare for me to see them first.

After a few inches of fresh snow yesterday, it was very clear that Gator takes the most meandering path of any other creature: deer, rabbit, cat, and raccoon tracks were all visible and relatively straight. Gator, unconstrained by meeting his basic survival needs, wandered from smell to smell.

Like every day, animal care is at the center. It is dark and cold, but I go outside to care for them. Being outside for hours every day makes everything better.

All 5 of my equines (3 donkeys and a horse and a pony) just got vaccinated and dental cleanings. I never would have thought they would have better access to health care than I do, but it seems by next year that might be the case.
