Found of Find Your Tornado Shelter and map maker. Also works on consulting and products for local and national media outlets within the realm. Graduated with my Ph.D. from Mississippi State in 2023. God has got me this far...what's next?
With the leaves starting to fall, that means more cold fronts + low pressure systems, and the opportunities for #severe weather.

More #tornado shelters are being added regularly, so this should be shared to save lives. The map is at findyourtornadoshelter.com and keeps expanding.

My new business cards are in production. The information is in the front of it. My name and information are on the rear. I've added a WeatherCall NexGen QR Code as well.

Thoughts while it is still being developed?

When you watch the skies for fireworks, you will see an incredible array of colors. What produces them? Chemistry!!! It's a good #science lesson for the #FourthofJuly. You'll see them on the Periodic Table as well. No matter how you feel, science rocks! #scicomm #fireworks #TheMoreYouKnow

4 million views and counting.

I have put thousands of hours of work into my #tornado shelter map over the past 3 years, and I know it has saved lives (based on testimonials). I never imagined this when I started it. I appreciate so much the support from everyone. #EMGsky #WXsky #AcademicSky

A product I have a working partnership with is Storm-GPS, which is a corridor-specific storm tracking system. I'm happy to set you up for a trial.

With it, Somerset (KY) had its #tornado tracked within 1 mile with 28 min. notice last month. London (KY) had 50 min. notice. #KYwx

Back in March, I received this testimonial about the work I do with my #tornado shelter operation and mapping.

It's something I keep reading - and I know there have been other stories this spring, even if I cannot be directly attributed to them.

This was aired a few weeks ago, but I forgot to post here images from an interview with @13abc.com that I had with @dansmithweather.bsky.social. It related to the #tornado shelter issue, both nationwide and in NW Ohio, and how my map is very useful. Link to video: www.13abc.com/video/2025/0...

These are the #tornado shelters that are known to exist in the threat area. Not too many in the area of greatest concern - they become far more abundant farther south. I'll look in the morning to see if more do exist.

With more #severe weather likely later this week into next week, I'd appreciate any information and tips on missing #tornado shelters on the map at findyourtornadoshelter.com.

There are over 2,200 on the map, but I would like to find out about more if possible.

There aren't many known #tornado shelters in what is now the highest threat area (partly because basements are more common, but not everyone has them). More do exist farther south, where the threat may increase with later outlooks. This is for Monday's threat.

As far as Monday, it looks to be a 2-pronged event. First, in the warm sector and early on, numerous tornadoes (possibly an outbreak) are likely, some significant and long-lived. With time, the threat should expand farther south and east with a squall line - damaging wind and #tornado threat.

Things are looking more concerning for early next week, especially for Monday. Indications are that a significant #severe weather threat will exist across a broad swath of the Midwest. All threats will likely be in play, including significant tornadoes. Still fine-tuning needed for specifics.

There aren't that many #tornado shelters in the threat area in the Midwest, but there are more to the south. It makes sense because there's a lot more basements, however, not everyone has them even in areas where they are more common. This is the map for Monday.

These are the known #tornado shelters in today's threat area. They worked wonders on Wednesday and they are there to do so again if they exist in your community. Contact your EMA for specifics. It would be great to share this too.

These are the #tornado shelters in and near the recent PDS tornado watch. They are likely opening or now open - if you're in a mobile home or otherwise uncomfortable, they are excellent options. If any are missing, send me a message and I'll add them.

These are the #tornado shelters in the area in today's area of concern, as well as some zoomed in perspectives. Given the threat level, they could save lives.

For locations, you can check them at findyourtornadoshelter.com. Very useful if in a mobile home or uncomfortable.

Here are the #tornado shelter locations inside the risk areas for today and for tomorrow. Since there are so many, you should zoom in on the website to find more.

The map is at findyourtornadoshelter.com. About 30 new shelters have been added since yesterday.
March 14, 2025 at 6:11 PM
In the threat area tomorrow and especially Saturday, there are more than 1,000 #tornado shelters. These could SAVE LIVES for many people if tornadoes hit their communities.

I've also zoomed this map into areas of higher densities of them. Locations are mapped at findyourtornadoshelter.com.

I was featured today in a story on WKRN in relation to the #tornado shelter availability in #Nashville and Middle Tennessee (of which there aren’t that many). With a major severe weather threat this weekend, the issue has come back to the front page. Additional interviews are planned soon as well.

These are the #tornado shelter locations in the threat areas on Friday and Saturday, both a wide shot and zoomed into the maximum threat areas.

Now is a good time to research them - and more could be added before the event as they are identified (you can help!). Maps at findyourtornadoshelter.com.

The #severe threat late this week into the weekend continues to increase, and the SPC is starting to introduce stronger wording.

The areas and the timing will be fine-tuned, and we aren't confident enough yet on supercells vs. QLCS. However, a #tornado threat will likely exist as a result.

These are the #tornado shelters in the area under the threat tonight. Most of these will open as they are needed, even though it will be overnight.

Here's the #tornado shelter map in relation to Tuesday's #severe weather forecast map by the SPC. Notice that there's a lot of them in some areas, but there are also large gaps.

It's possible I am missing some (I added one new one today) so I'd be happy to get some more up and ready.
