CCS volunteer and prostate cancer patient, Dr. Anthony Dixon shared how his own diagnosis changed everything. He spoke about the financial and emotional costs, from parking fees to PSA tests. He also reflected on the gifts: empathy, purpose, and the power of early detection. Thank you Anthony!

While at Queen’s Park, @cancersociety.bsky.social CEO Andrea Seale shared how affordability means something different when it’s about your health. Last year alone, patients and caregivers shouldered $7.5 billion in costs—delaying or going without care because they couldn’t afford it.

We commend @davidebybc.bsky.social and the @governmentofbc.bsky.social for introducing legislation to extend protected leave to 27 weeks for people facing serious illness like #cancer.

Nearly 40% of those diagnosed with cancer are in their working years and should focus on recovery, not job risk.
