Former St. Vincent–St. Mary standout and retired professional basketball player Romeo Travis visited our Detention Center to speak with residents about accountability, learning from past decisions, and the importance of surrounding yourself with positive, motivating friends who push you to grow.

Over 25 House 1 residents graduated from our Freedom School Summer Program! They were presented with their certificates and showcased all of their hard work! Freedom School, a 6-week enrichment program through the Children's Defense Fund, focuses on literacy, self-empowerment, and hands-on learning.

For the past 5 years, MOTOGO has partnered with the Court to teach youth teamwork, problem-solving, and confidence through hands-on mechanics. We recently toured their shop and saw our youth rebuilding motorcycles—igniting passion and future career goals.

Volunteers from Cleveland Youth for Christ held an End of the Year Picnic for our detention residents, featuring a cookout with steaks, burgers, and more. They also brought in motivational speakers and participated in field day games alongside staff and youth for a fun, uplifting day!

Our Detention residents take part in a variety of programs and activities — including gardening! Guided by one of our dedicated community volunteers, the youth learn each step of starting and maintaining a thriving garden.

Residents in our Detention Center have the opportunity to participate in yoga sessions throughout the year, led by a dedicated community volunteer. These sessions help reduce stress, boost mood, improve sleep, and support overall well-being.

Meet Carrie! She's been with the Juvenile Court's Clerk’s Office for 7 years, joining that team in 2017. Her favorite part of the job? The people—both coworkers and clients. Outside of work, she enjoys crafting and creating fun decor for the office lobby and cashier’s window!
