I went to an optician front desk to fix my (I thought) wonky glasses. Was informed that my wonky face was the problem. No attempt to soften the blow from optician desk lady. I actually think my current glasses might be a bit wonky but I will absolutely not be doing anything about it.

It seems the popping point of corn is 180°c. A website I found (& will be returning to) advising Canadians on chicken temperature in various scenarios suggests chicken cooked at a standard 180° should reach a temperature of 82°. So i fear you may have to overcook your chicken to get the desired pop.

I was a Jaime girl when I discovered them in my 20s, but gradually Palomar lured me in!

The people who casually write this stuff always have a tone like they'd be fine in this scenario, the end of democracy is really only an issue for the plebs lefties and wokes. Times columnists will somehow naturally thrive in the new dark ages

This article was simultaneously the most horrific and most human thing I've read in a while.

I've abandoned using social media which has in some ways been great, but I've really missed finding interesting stuff(articles like this for example!). Hence I'm back on bluesky but it does feel stressful. Lots of interesting ways to manage this in your piece, popped into my feed at the perfect time

What are 'middle incomes' in UK? I keep seeing reference to it today and realised I don't have a sense of what that range is. Just everyone on 20% tax band in this context?

Estonia won my heart for the silly song this year, I also found Switzerland quite sweet

I just love that they're still trying

Well, who could have predicted that this is exactly what would happen from the moment this was first announced? Next up, Morena's enemies using this system to punish them via the courts the minute their popularity with voters wanes. Just a very stupid policy all round really.

If you find yourself in the UK some time, the Scott Polar Museum in Cambridge is great. One sad object is Oates' sleeping bag, cut open from ease the pain in his frostbitten leg. A visit will not in any way help with the existential funk
