People are distracted by the idea that “government is corrupt” like it’s just a few bad apples. One shady politician, one fix. That’s comforting. But the truth? It’s systemic. Fully legal. Out in the open. They don’t hide it — they advertise it.

you know you're in an authoritarian regime when you are assuring yourself that "you're safe"

One of my coworkers said they weren't political... Brings up seed oil and "the jab"
Uuuuh, okay, apolitical.

People seem to think there's like a trade envoy accompanying a guy with five sacks of soybeans and negotiating four sacks of coffee in return. All Silk Road style.

Can you imagine being a citizen of the wealthiest country in human history and complaining that other countries sell us their labor cheaply?

we have to destroy tesla. it's our clearest path to resistance.

When did the US stop believing in people's right to self-determination? If Greenland were to become a territory of the US, they better talk to Puerto Ricans about how we treat citizens that have need.

Signal chat group is really bad.
As one that worked as a DoD telecom gear provider. The US makes very secure comm devices for this type of conversation. The public will completely miss this.

The fact that the Atlantic EIC has targeting information is WILD. Hegseth acts like a he's a fool - that guy should publish everything he has.
March 25, 2025 at 5:25 PM
The fact that the Paul Weiss stuff has been done in broad daylight is utterly grotesque and remarkable.

People don't talk enough about the damaging effects that a person can have on a trademark.
Elon, tesla.
Trump, US brands selling in Canadian markets.

We're going to punish Ukraine in a treaty. Probably for security guarantees from the US, that are meaningless. (as we already have one that we're ignoring)
War Guilt Clause (from treaty of Versailles) Ukraine will have to accept full responsibility for causes of the war.

What in the world is our $1T DoD budget good for? Some reTrumplikin said our carrier groups weren't valuable any longer because their hero (Putin) has hypersonic missiles. I said great, let's decommission 5 of the surface groups. "No, I didn't mean that."
March 3, 2025 at 2:15 PM
What do reTrumplikins see in their mythos of evil-evil Ukraine rhetoric? Some sort of $40B a year savings? Those are primarily estimates of weapon replacements?
GOP isn't even suggesting that we will save on DoD budget. They want $90B/yr more. Thirsty for the $1T DoD.

NATO meeting and committing to Zelensky and Ukrainian sovereignty and security, without the US. This is a new level of embarrassment for the US. Trump playing some 4th dimensional chess? - HE'S NOT. We will support the UK/London pact -- it's just embarrassing we're not invited.
March 3, 2025 at 1:59 PM
Nato meeting without the US wasn't on my "things Trump would fuck up" bingo card.
March 2, 2025 at 5:08 PM
man, we have no media left. these people talking to all these trump apologists. acting like zelensky is some sort of warmonger.

I fully realize how little Americans knew about USAID and its mission. Canceling established contracts that assist in building infrastructure. How would anyone ever trust the US again?
March 1, 2025 at 9:08 PM
One of the oddest takes of the 18-35yo white reTrumplikans. Tank the US dollar and somehow start anew. As the 10year treasury is typically super strong in any GDP downturn in the US, how does that even work?
February 28, 2025 at 7:25 PM
Hopefully Ukraine can stand up to Putin with EU, UK support. I fear that it's a lost cause. They needed a strong ally in the US, and we couldn't rise to the occasion. Putin will have Russia bordering Poland by 2026.
February 28, 2025 at 7:00 PM
It's obvious that Trump wouldn't honor any mineral rights deal. He wants to hate Ukraine. He will hate Ukraine.
February 28, 2025 at 6:45 PM
US economy is all about consumer and investor confidence. The Trump administration is taking a wrecking ball to both. This is going to go sideways very fast, as investors start to sideline assets. We had the 3 mo vs 10 yr yield flip. GDP will be negative in Q1.

Tesla is all about chasing the future. Are they a generational technology shift that can stay on the cutting edge of innovation -- or, is it a car company?
car company - $30/share.
Where's the forward innovation that makes them much greater than Toyota?
February 28, 2025 at 3:36 PM
Can I say these two statements???

"I'm rather conservative."

and,

"The democratic party aligns with my world view and it's not even close."

Thank you.

You're not a capitalist, until your yearly income is mostly from non-usage of your labor. Such a simple axiom, that most of US doesn't seem to understand.
