Losing any of the very few Republicans that are resisting Trump right now seems like a very bad thing to me.

I know I'm very much in the minority here, but like during Trump's first term, I welcome anyone to the resistance.

I think there is probably a good reason we don't see very many Democrats like that getting elected.
February 13, 2025 at 6:57 PM
I have no doubt that that will continue to happen. Hopefully that will somehow break through the bubbles.

So, dial up the cruelty, let Trump trump, win. Correct that if it's wrong.

I hope you're right because that seems to be the path we're on anyhow, but I fear it may not work the same for both sides and that it could benefit Rs more than Ds.

I'm open to any well reasoned ideas, and I very much get the desire for this, but I can't really connect the dots. We have to persuade people, right? Will cruelty help elect Democrats? I fear it may just alienate more voters and especially the fence-sitters.

This trend seems key to me. I think the top two questions are:

1. Will we still be able to have legitimate elections?
2. If we can, are Democrats going to be able to win?

The long term trend on persuading people hasn't looked good, but the hope is that Trump being in office will reverse that.

It's just one way of looking at it. I think it's the ones among us willing to do these shitty jobs. The criticism is unrelenting and in many cases unearned. I don't believe Democrats can withstand this kind of pressure in addition to what already comes from media and Rs. See: 2024 election.
February 4, 2025 at 4:32 PM
You can ask a valid question like that, but the important part is that they keep finding ways to attack democrats. They've been at it for awhile and as you can see, it's working great. The more heretics we find and push out, the better! Right? What does getting more votes matter, anyway?
January 30, 2025 at 4:48 PM
Judging by the replies to this on Threads, it seems that they're doing more than just not voting, they're also still vehemently attacking Dems.

Doesn't seem to be a lot of hope for democracy currently on any of the socials.

Absolutely, the definitions have shifted quite a bit in the US, seemingly leaving gaps for what they used to mean.
January 26, 2025 at 2:44 AM
I feel the ones wanting a revolution are usually much further towards the extremes, and don't usually want the same things as those that don't.
January 26, 2025 at 1:31 AM
I think that has some truth to it.

That could still fit. Might it be true that as you move along that line to the extremes of actual socialism or communism, how far you go ideologically somewhat lines up with how far you stray from democracy towards authoritarianism?
January 26, 2025 at 1:26 AM
It's why a political triangle makes more sense to me. What's considered the extremes in the US have their own corners, sharing a line of authoritarianism. At the third corner are the more classic liberals, basically traditional "individual rights" Americans.

It was the reality of the situation. It was in a time when southern conservative Dems were still a thing. It's correct to say it would've required a supermajority, and probably didn't even have majority support. If there are newer junkies reading, it was kind of like there were a dozen Manchins.
January 25, 2025 at 4:32 PM
Some people will turn any news into an attack on Democrats.
January 22, 2025 at 12:00 AM
Which then seems to drive people away from voting Democrat. Also doesn't seem to matter how small of a minority they are when they are so loud and pervasive in social spaces.
January 21, 2025 at 7:34 PM
And the "right" always accepts them with open arms. It seems to be not just the powerful. Social media appears to have dialed "the left seeks heretics, the right seeks converts" up to 11. I'm not sure how we shift this apparent paradigm. There may be ways, but human nature may make it impossible.

I'm not sure if they're exactly equivalent, but OfferUp has treated me well.

I thought he was going to rake our forests? Where are the rakers? Where are the rakes?

UK one is just a type of product with less ingredients, loads of those in the states.

There were already some things, but I unsubscribed at that point.
