Been a minute since I've been here. Nice to see friends again here!

Trying to kick off a regular posting of work. Starting with some journal sketchbook pages soon. Counting my current one that's WIP for 2025, it'll be ten years worth.

I asked my son what he wanted me to draw. He said a chicken. So here we are.

For the last few years leading up to Valentine’s Day, my two boys and I make a gigantic mess and somehow end up with a big pile of hand-made cards for loved ones and their friends.
The process can get a bit wild and I try to embrace the chaos of it.

Currently helping my 6yo play a bit of Mario+Rabbids: Sparks of Hope and remembering how surprisingly good this game is.

Good depth, and good Mario story with a touch of darkness to it. Some vines of Super Mario RPG.

I love this, whenever I see it. Where the morning sun is just over the cusp of freezing but hasn’t yet touched the stretches of shade. I find it a lot here in BC. You can feel yourself at the threshold.

British Columbia hiking continues to be pretty great.

Collaboration sketch with my six year old. I did most of the drawing and he did most of the painting.

When I showed him my last bit of work he said “perfect except for the weird eyes.”

In answer to your inquiries, British Columbia is, in fact, Haunted.

Good mess.

This is a Bufflehead, I learned today. And I would like him to stay still so I can draw him.

Gouache Maryland landscape.
Always loved this specific flowing line dividing planes of color.

Cleaning up and found this page of sketches I did of my cat a few months back while she wandered the kitchen.

That finished gouache sketch.

This is probably the last page in that sketchbook, which is an annual present for my wife. It’s a sort of long form love note, filled with memories, sketches, and stories every year. She has three now.

On second read of that it reminds me of my asshole house cat’s affection. Conditional, chaotic, and unique.

Absolutely feeling it how long it took me to find the button to post a video. But here’s a gouache time-lapse of some gorgeous overcast clouds out our window.

I have been keeping a stack of paper and a pencil clipped to a magnet on my fridge and trying to draw clouds outside my kitchen window whenever I get a few minutes. Nice way to give me some feeling of creation a couple times a day.

Annual tradition of me trying to get my boys to watch Klaus at least 3x times in December.

It’s really good.

Pile of journal sketchbooks. One for each year of the last decade, counting the current one.

Trying to figure out an elegant way to add a label to them for the year. Any ideas?
