<div class="field field-field-text"><p>A Palestinian student at Columbia University was arrested in Vermont by US federal agents - right in the middle of a meeting that was supposed to finalise his path to American citizenship.</p>
<p>Mohsen Mahdawi, a green card holder originally from a refugee camp in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, has been active on campus in supporting Palestinian rights.</p>
<p>US Immigration and Customs Enforcement have now begun the process to deport him to the occupied West Bank.</p>
<p>A legal team representing Mahdawi submitted a habeas corpus petition on Monday, pushing back against what they argue is an unlawful detention.</p>
<p>They say the Trump administration is punishing Mahdawi for his views on Palestine and Israel - views that, they say, fall squarely within his right to free expression.</p>

She referred to the wholesale destruction of 2 million people’s homes and murder and maiming of possibly hundreds of thousands of people as “whatever it’s called” to a bereaved Gazan-Canadian’s face. How utterly disposable.
Very disappointed to see this.

I don’t know if this app is the answer, but I know that X and Meta have been complicit in suppressing voices calling for an end to the genocide Israel is committing in Gaza and that we must (a) abandon them and (b) regulate platforms like them.

Genocide in Gaza will not end with a ceasefire. But a ceasefire is absolutely needed. The genocide will continue because Gaza is being forcibly starved by Israel. Infrastructure for sustaining all life has been destroyed by Israel. Gaza must be rebuilt. The occupation must end.
