So far it's one of the softest individual Arsenal performances I've seen in a while. He looks so, so flat and the body language will no doubt drive Arteta mad.

Also telling that Arteta is telling Lewis-Skelly to "focus".

They look awful, yet are still winning (so far) lol

Just to further to this:
I'm currently watching the Portsmouth game, and Arsenal are still taking AGES to take their throw-ins.

Bottom tier Championship opposition, yet the insane slowing down continues. I don't get it

I noticed it in a game not too long ago, but yes.

Personally think it's a lot to do with not having Ødegaard for much of this season. Or, perhaps more importantly, White. Feels like that was the combo where it was used the most

Literally the only clever throw-in I can recall is the one where Ødegaard sneaks behind the defensive line and darts toward goal along the byline.

Otherwise they're so frustrating 🙃

Startling how far the energy levels dropped from Arsenal in the 2nd half. Late to every duel, so many moments of hesitation...

Arsenal looked like a nervous, worried team in the 2nd half.

Why on earth did they leave him in?? Almost seems cruel
January 7, 2026 at 3:19 PM
Just to make clear:
I understand the strategy and think it's theoretically interesting.

But practically? Oof... I just don't think that's how you build a team
January 4, 2026 at 7:35 PM
I sort of understand Chelsea's strategy of "law of averages until we land a true superstar" with their signing... but it's quite dumb.

Not only that, but I really struggle to see how Delap and Gittens are better than Jackson and Madueke. Those last 2 may not be "elite", but they're legit good
January 4, 2026 at 7:33 PM
They absolutely still could, and whilst the US have insane depth of choice, they're not as loaded with superduper stars. If Canada left off a Robertson-quality player... It'd also be nuts, but not as.

The US leaving him off is truly wild. They really haven't learned from 2014 or the 2016 WCOH
January 2, 2026 at 10:52 PM
They're all also so annoying lol.

I wonder what's been going on behind the scenes at Chelsea. Maresca has made so many odd comments lately and seemed miserable. Such an odd situation for a team that imo has at least been performing alright, esp considering the age of the squad etc.

Best example of "you make your own luck"?

Even taking aside the cleanliness aspect - it's also just kinda nice to take your shoes off, right?

As a swede who's lived in the US, I never quite understood why someone would *want* to wear their shoes all day.

This, this, this

The normalisation has in turn also led to the actual moderate, centrist, liberal and "left" parties in Europe to lean further into far-right rhetoric and agendas.

Worrying that we're almost halfway through the season and the attack still hasn't clicked. Like, at all.

Idk, maybe a bit doom and gloom to say during what has been an especially poor game, but the title credentials have plummeted. Just a bad, bad feeling

I hate football
December 13, 2025 at 8:33 PM
It was also just one of those days, esp with all the injuries.

Main worry now is that the schedule isn't really easing up and the squad is (yet again) absolutely shattered.
December 9, 2025 at 3:21 PM
I still think that prob the biggest flaw with Arteta is his tendency to go with the hot hand instead of the one with the best dynamics etc for a given game. Maybe Gyökeres wasn't ready for more than 45 mins, but at that point I'd def have gone with Martinelli/Madueke somewhere in that attack

Speed!
December 9, 2025 at 3:21 PM
When the lineup was announced I was worried about the lack of speed and transition threat in the front 4, and I really didn't believe Merino was the right pick for this one. Maybe my "analysis" is conformation bias, but idk.
December 9, 2025 at 3:21 PM
Merino, on merit, def deserved a start, but he was never going to be the right choice for this one. The spaces he likes are simply never available against them, esp not when playing away. And he doesn't offer enough in transition, at least not in combo with Ødegaard.
December 9, 2025 at 3:21 PM
I do also think Arteta got the selection wrong.

We've seen in the past that the biggest way to hurt Villa is either runners through half-space channels (passes we also just didn't play enough of - def also missing Havertz tbf) or through transitions...
December 9, 2025 at 3:21 PM
The first pic is obv just crazy nonsense, but the 2nd one is genuinely idiotic. What the hell do they mean? Does it also mean that things like parliament and Congress, ie meeting spots for government officials, shouldn't exist? Should capital cities not exist?

I really don't get it lol
December 7, 2025 at 1:03 PM
Crazy how quickly the 2nd half went from "hey, they're playing pretty well" to "dear lord"
December 6, 2025 at 2:15 PM
Need to play the channel balls more for Calafiori and White, and we need more speed. A Merino-Ø duo is worth almost nothing as transition threats - we need Eze and/or Gyökeres as centrally.

We've seen in prior seasons how vulnerable Villa can be in those half-space channels - needs exploiting!
December 6, 2025 at 1:25 PM
Feels like we lost the emotional battle as the half went on.

Also think we're not looking for the White/Calafiori channel runs nearly enough. Numerous blindside runs that we didn't even try to play

And not a fan of this front 4. Not nearly enough speed. Crying for a Gyökeres/Martinelli, even Leo

3 latest world cups it's been FIFA and Infantino bending over for Putin, the Qatari monarchy and Trump.

Idk, not much else needs to be said tbh. It's just so fucking grim
