Corporate news isn't inherently bad. While it's good to know who owns your news, factors like editorial independence, transparency, and factual accuracy are more pressing when determining the reliability of a news source. The key issue here is that WaPo's editorial independence has been sacrificed.

I hope so, too. It might help to think about the odds that were faced back then, and how insurmountable they must have seemed before organized resistance really took hold.

Ah yes, the notoriously violent Civil Rights Movement which ended a century of de jure segregation. The Indian Independence Movement was also exceptionally violent.
